Djokovic Is Keeping An 'Open Mind' About Covid-19 Vaccination

Novak Djokovic is still open to receiving the Covid-19 vaccination, although he acknowledges that not doing so this season may preclude him from competing in events.

The world No. 1 remarked in an interview with Serbian national TV RTS that he retains a "open mind" towards vaccinations.

He stated, "I am not exclusive; anything is possible in life." "At this time, I have decided not to do it, and I am prepared to accept the consequences."

"Like every other citizen in the world, I'm trying to understand this entire situation regarding the pandemic and fight against the virus. "I have information that everyone else has, and I'm trying, as a professional athlete, which has always been the case, to triple-check everything that goes into my body and in what way it can affect me, and if anything changes half a percent, I can feel it. I'm just being careful, and I took some time to think about it before making a decision."

Djokovic was unable to defend his Australian Open title last month due to his refusal to get vaccinated against the virus, and he was subsequently ejected from the nation after his visa was revoked twice.

Djokovic told RTS that the events leading up to his expulsion were "totally unexpected" and "difficult to forget," but that he still hopes to return to Australia in the future: "I'd like to return to Rod Laver Arena."

Rafael Nadal won a lengthy five-set encounter against Daniil Medvedev in his absence from the Australian Open. With his victory in Melbourne, the Spaniard earned his 21st Grand Slam championship, the most in men's singles history.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which begin next Monday, will be Djokovic's first competition of the season because he is not needed to be vaccinated. He has won the tournament five times and will be attempting to win it for the sixth time.
