Ernest Ocloo, the convict, was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour, two years after being dismissed for the tragic act that occurred in the school's Staff Common Room in November 2019 in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of Savannah Region.
After more than a year of trial, a seven-member jury found the accused guilty of the offence.
According to reports, the incident happened shortly after he invited the student to the room. The victim was said to have met him while sitting on a sofa in the staff lounge, and when he invited her to join him, she declined. The convict then offered the victim Yoghurt and Shito, which she declined. He went on to propose to her, which she declined.
When the victim turned to leave the staff common room, the convict stood up, locked the door, and fondled her breast. Despite her resistance, the convict persisted and forcibly placed her on the floor, undressed her, and perpetrated her. The victim yelled for help, but no one could hear her.
Because of the forceful penetration, the victim was unable to stand or walk and was suffering from excruciating stomach pain. Later, the victim was taken to her dormitory, where her condition worsened and she was rushed to Sawla hospital. She was admitted for two days.
While the victim insisted she was raped, Ocloo claimed they had consensual sex and she passed out from the excitement.
