According to the Daily Trust, approximately 50 motorcycle-riding bandits raided Jere, a village along the infamous Abuja-Kaduna route, and moved from home to house.
Residents claimed that the bandits appeared to have targeted the residence of Abdulrahman Ibrahim, a former Commissioner who was out of town at the time. They kidnapped his wife, a baby daughter, his younger sister, and his wife's sister, on the other hand.
According to Hassan Adamu, a local, the bandits also invaded the home of a newlywed couple and attempted to kidnap the bride, but the groom resisted. They shot him dead while dragging his bride with the bandits, he claimed.
Hassan claimed the neighbourhood was tense because, despite the combined security presence of soldiers, the divisional police office, and the area command, security agents failed to stop the bandits who had been operating for more than three hours.
"We called a number of security services on the ground, but they all ignored us." This is the second significant attack on our community in the previous three months, and we believe the security personnel stationed here are useless," Adamu, an enraged teen, said.
The event has elicited no response from the state police command.
