According to Nwachukwu, Nigerian military at Danare received intelligence and mobilised to the purportedly invaded Bashu town.
The spokesman stated that when they arrived, they realised that there had been no incursion at Bashu.
"Rather, the separatists assaulted the communities of Obonyi 2 and Njasha, both of which are in the Republic of Cameroon," he continued.
Soldiers and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) personnel rescued four victims who had crossed into Nigerian territory.
Nwachukwu promised military protection and urged the populace to remain calm.
