In his new role as the first assistant coach for the three-time African champions, the Nigerian Super Eagles, Finidi George has vowed to bring his best to the table.

After failing to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the former Super Eagles winger told our correspondent he would give it his all to help the national team regain its glory.

UEFA Champions League winner with Ajax: "I am happy that I was appointed to be part of the coaches of the Super Eagles; it is one appointment that I relish so much."

When it comes to making an impact on the team, I'm confident that I'll do my best within the constraints of my position.

He continued, "But I will also tell Nigerians to have faith in the team and be patient with the new coaches."

Finidi George was recently appointed as the first assistant coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles following the recent reshuffling of the coaching staff.

Salisu Yusuf, the football team's first assistant coach, was named among several others to fill the position of second assistant coach.

Super Eagles face Mexico and Ecuador in international friendlies scheduled for the United States of America in the coming weeks (USA).

The two matches will serve as a warm-up for the team's upcoming AFCON qualifiers, which begin at the end of the month.
