In Anambra, gunmen assassinate a police officer and seize a firearm.

On Sunday afternoon, gunmen killed an unidentified police officer in Ogidi, Anambra State's Idemili North Local Government Area, and took his rifle.

According to a source who talked to INFOGONG, the gunmen were stationed near Ogidi Town Hall, where some police officers regularly operate a roadblock.

"They sat there for a long time, waiting," the insider added, "until they spotted one of the cops, who they shot dead and took his AK-47 rifle before fleeing."

In response to a question from INFOGONG, the state police command's spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, revealed that there was a gunfight between police officers and hoodlums, which resulted in the death of one of the officers.
