In Nasarawa, gunmen kill a dad and kidnap his daughters.
Unknown gunmen killed a father and kidnapped two of his daughters in Azuba, a neighbourhood of Nasarawa State's capital, Lafia, in the early hours of Sunday.

Alhaji Zakari Kigbu, the slain victim, is claimed to be a relative of Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Kigbu was also the previous President of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association and a former Commissioner of the National Population Commission (ECDA).

"We received a distress call at about 12:15 am regarding the attack and reacted immediately by mobilising our patrol teams and the military to the location," Nasarawa State Police Command spokesman ASP Ramhan Nansel said, confirming the report.

When they arrived, they discovered the victim had been shot in the abdomen.

He was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

His two girls were kidnapped and taken to an unknown location.

"An aggressive manhunt for the perpetrators of the heinous deed has begun," the command said.
