Obiano's wife has been elected as the APGA's senatorial candidate for Anambra North.
Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, the wife of Anambra State's immediate past governor, defeated her husband's former Chief of Staff, Mr Primus Odili, to become the All Progressive Grand Alliance's (APGA) flag bearer for Anambra North on Sunday.

Mrs Obiano received 152 votes in the APGA primary election conducted at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium in Onitsha, Onitsha North Local Government Area, while her nearest rival, Odili, received 120 votes.

Out of the 276 total votes cast in the election, Mr Tony Nnacheta, the State's former Commissioner for Information, received two votes, and Mr Onwuteaka Sam Jnr received two votes as well.

Mr. O. Ikenna, the election's Returning Officer, pronounced Mrs. Obiano the winner after she received the most votes.

He praised the candidates and delegates for their maturity throughout the election.
