Zamfara's Chief Imam Condemns Deborah Samuel's Murder, Claiming That Islam Doesn't Support Murder

Sheikh Sani Tukur Jangebe, the Chief Imam of the Muslims Foundation Mosque and the Zamfara State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, has condemned the heinous murder of Deborah Samuel, a female student of the Sokoto State College of Education.

The Imam said this during his Friday sermon in Gusau, when he exhorted Muslims to follow Islam's teachings and precepts, according to the Daily Post.

Even the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) was insulted and humiliated during his lifetime, yet he did not order the assassination of his foes, according to Jangebe.

He went on to add that it was wrong for any Muslim to make such regulations, claiming that Allah did not authorise such rulings in Islam.

Zamfara is a Sharia-friendly state, with laws enacted by former Governor Sani Yerima's government.

Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student at Sokoto's Shehu Shagari College of Education, was assassinated on Thursday for supposed blasphemy.
