Bishop Daniels, the founder of a church in Lagos State, has been accused of raping an assistant female pastor at his home in the state's Lekki neighbourhood.

INFOGONG learned from the victim that Daniels, who is married with children, raped her twice, and that she bled both times.

Our source learned that the victim, who lives outside of Lagos, was summoned to the church's Lagos headquarters where the assault occurred.

"He asked me to attend a conference, but the timing interfered with my brother's wedding," she explained. As a result of my failure to attend the meeting, he ordered church members in my branch not to celebrate my birthday and told me to report to the church's headquarters in Lagos for punishment. So I went to his place in Lekki for the punishment, and when I arrived, he told me I needed to strip naked because he was going to beat me. At home, he was alone. When he realised I was taken aback by his statement, he began to make me feel terrible.

He claimed that his spiritual father put him to the test in numerous ways, and that after hours of contemplation, he grew enraged because I disobeyed him. As I came out to meet him, I went into the guest room, took off my clothing, and closed my eyes. "He observed my nakedness and claimed he wanted to test my allegiance and was not having sex with me," he said as he sat in a chair, telling me not to close my eyes and ordering me to kneel.

He told me to put my clothes back on, and then he told me to take them off again after I had worn them, which I did. He eventually told me to depart and not tell anyone, but I notified some of our senior church members after I left his house."

The woman claimed that when she came home, Daniels called her to tell her that she needed to come to his house for another incident.

"So, while at his residence, he informed me he was going to punish me for an offence and that I needed to transcribe the messages in one of his lessons," she explained. The pastor of the branch in Ibadan and his wife, whom I had met at his household the day before, left the next day, leaving me alone in the house with Bishop Daniels. So, as we were in the sitting room together, he tried to kiss me, but I prevented him, and he smacked me.

He was enraged and claimed that the last time he told me to go naked, he did nothing. As a result, he left and I went to sleep in my room. We were in the sitting room the next day, listening to a pastor's message, when he suggested I go naked again. I obeyed, and to my surprise, he stripped down and raped me for approximately 30 minutes, till I started bleeding from the tears I had shed despite the fact that I was not a virgin. The incident occurred at 10 p.m., and I was taken aback. He told me to go inside the room to clean up, and when I returned, the blood on the floor had been cleaned up. He told me not to tell anyone, but I did tell my pastor."

Daniels refused to let her leave his residence, according to the victim, who said that when he tried to rape her the next night, she pleaded with him that she was weary.

"I welcomed him in the morning, but he didn't respond," the 22-year-old stated. Later, he began to remark that I should consider myself fortunate that he had such an experience with me. He suddenly stripped off my clothes and raped me again, and I bled profusely the second time. "It was a horrific experience for me." Before I came out, he told me to go to the restroom and wash, and he cleaned up the blood. I took up the phone and called my branch's pastor, as well as another church member from our branch, who had opted to visit the pastor at his home.

Bishop Daniels began pleading with me, saying he had no idea what had happened to him. I wanted to follow the church member out to tell her the story, but he forbade me from leaving the house. I eventually left his place, but I felt suicidal as I reflected on the events.

“I quit attending church, and my branch was shut down. In 2020, I reported the incident to Alagbon's Force Criminal Investigation Department. But the investigating officer, Inspector Samuel, told me that if I wanted him detained, I needed to provide N70,000. I couldn't afford it, so I had to quit going to the station. Bishop Daniels began sending people to beseech me, but I simply ignored them and moved on. "I obtained someone ready to sponsor my case after two other victims informed me that Bishop Daniels sought to have sex with them." So I reopened the case at the FCID Alagbon last month, and he was detained last week. I want justice, but even after I gave them all of my evidence, including how he threatened me over the case and how his wife begged me, the police have yet to arrest him in court."

"I don't know or have any pastor with the name you gave me," Daniels stated when contacted about the victim's allegations. I'd be happy to make money if you wanted to publish an article."

However, the bishop was overheard urging the victim that they should commit sin together in one of the audio recordings she supplied to our journalist.

The victim was heard screaming in another audio recording, challenging the bishop for telling someone she wanted sex with him and he gave it to her.

"Don't say that to anybody," Daniels said in the audio. "I haven't even been talking to anybody."

Daniels was arrested and jailed for six days after the victim filed a complaint, according to a spokesperson for the FCID, Niyi Ogundeyi.

"The crime was first reported in 2020, but the complainant said it was not properly handled, therefore it was referred to Supol Yemi," he explained. Bishop Daniels was imprisoned for six days after being apprehended. He was then released since he was entitled to bail and the police did not have the authority to hold him indefinitely. Meanwhile, the inquiry is underway, and all parties have been invited to come to the command on Thursday. He is accused of sexually harassing her, and several witnesses have supported the complainant's testimony. The investigation is still going on."
