Authorities say the man grabbed shoes off the feet of at least three ladies in a bizarre criminal spree around New York City.
The shoe thief approached the women, all of whom were 24 years old, at random in a series of crimes in Brooklyn and Queens that began in January, according to authorities.
He first attacked on Jan. 24, when he followed a 24-year-old lady inside a building at 739 Utica Avenue in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and stole her right shoe, according to investigators.
The burglar stole a left Nike sneaker from a 24-year-old woman at the Grand Army subway station in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on Feb. 9 at 11 a.m., according to police.
At the time, the woman told police that the man grabbed her $40 Nike running sneaker from her foot. She stated that she had no contact with the suspect prior to him snatching the sneaker.
Following the heist, the suspect ran down to the train station, hopped the turnstile, and boarded a train, according to investigators.
The suspect struck again last week, about 12:15 p.m., when he grabbed a 24-year-old woman's left shoe inside the Rego Center shopping complex at 96-05 Queens Boulevard in Rego Park, Queens.
