President Muhammadu Buhari made the remark immediately after meeting with certain governors at the State House in Abuja.
After the meeting, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong told State House Correspondents that the northern governors agreed that power should be transferred to the south.
They are also scheduled to meet with the party's National Working Committee at 5 p.m. today.
The President's meeting with the APC governors from the north is the fourth in a series of talks aimed at reaching an agreement before the convention.
Atiku Bagudu, the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and governor of Kebbi State, Simeon Lalong, Abubakar Baduru (Jigawa), and Babagana Zulum, the head of the Northern Governors Forum and governor of Plateau State, are among the governors in attendance (Borno).
Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Bello Matawale (Zamfara), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Yahaya Inuwa (Gombe), Abubakar Bello (Niger), and Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, are among the others.
