Wellington received 24 votes, while his challenger, Sam Aiboni, received only five votes.
After the first primary was cancelled last month, a repeat was scheduled for today. Since joining the main opposition party earlier this year, the singer has been seen as a favourite to win the ticket.

Mr Wellington defeated Mr Aiboni, a Lagos businessman, with 27 votes to two in the first round.
