Buhari raises the food crisis alarm as Nigeria inks nine accords, including a Memorandum of Understanding with Spain.
President Muhammadu Buhari stated that world leaders must work together and strategize on how to avoid a global food crisis.

He made the call during an audience with His Royal Majesty, King Felipe VI, at the Royal Palace in Madrid, Spain, on Wednesday.

Nigeria is a significant country, according to the king, and he expressed interest in visiting it.

The President greeted his host for the invitation and updated him on current events in the United States, particularly preparations for the general elections in 2023.

Buhari said Nigeria was looking forward to expanding bilateral relations at another meeting with President Pedro Sanchez.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari praised his Spanish colleague for his assistance to the fight against terrorism in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Mali.

Sanchez reminded Buhari that Nigeria remained an important partner of the European country and that he was eager to strengthen ties.

Nine agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed by the heads of government and their ministers (MoU).

The Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Transfer of Sentenced Persons Treaty, Extradition Treaty, and Economic and Commercial Cooperation Treaty were among them.

Tourism, sports, health, the fight against COVID-19, science, and innovation are among the others.
