Goodluck Jonathan reacts to Atiku and Tinubu's victories in the APC and PDP primaries.

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has praised Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress's (APC) presidential candidate for 2023. (APC).

Jonathan also praised Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), as well as other winners of recent primaries around the country.

He urged all presidential candidates from all political parties to put peace and stability first in their campaigns leading up to the general elections in 2023.

"I congratulate the winners of the numerous primaries across the political spectrum, particularly Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party," Jonathan tweeted (LP).

"Your election as the flagbearers of your parties after undergoing rigorous selection and election processes reflects your belief in and interest in our country's growth."

I implore you to run your campaigns without acrimony, division, or deceit, so that, in the end, Nigeria will triumph, democracy will triumph, and humanity will be better for it."

As I've always maintained, no ambition is worth another person's life. As candidates, you must avoid acts of violence and activities that provoke bloodshed or worsen national fault lines. As we prepare for the 2023 elections, I urge all leaders, including politicians, to put the country's peace and stability first."
