Gunmen kidnap Traditional ruler of Ebonyi

The traditional head of the Isu community in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, HRH Ambrose Ogbu, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

According to a family source who spoke to Daily Trust, the community's Ezentum II monarch was abducted with his gateman on June 22 between the hours of 8 and 9.

In his palace, he was abducted. The kidnappers arrived in large groups on motorbikes and told the gateman to summon the chief "said the source.

"When the chief emerged, the kidnappers grabbed his Hundai SUV car key, dragged him inside, and then sped off. There is currently no established communication with the family. We hope he makes it back safely."

SP Chris Anyanwu, the State Police Command's spokesperson, confirmed the kidnapping to NAN on June 23 in Abakaliki.
