Hajj 2022 - Two Intending Pilgrims Die in Kaduna

Yakubu Abdulsamad and Haruna Suleiman, two pilgrims from Kaduna State's Igabi Local Government Area, have died.

They perished on Sunday and Monday, just before flying to Saudi Arabia for a religious trip.

The deceased have already been buried according to Islamic rituals, according to the local government's Registration Officer, Aminu Surajo, who announced their death.

It was learned that the dead was among the first group of people to be evacuated to Saudi Arabia.

This year's hajj exercise is scheduled to attract 2,491 Kaduna pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, the acting governor of Kaduna State, has charged the state's first batch of pilgrims to be excellent ambassadors for the state and the country in general while in the Holy Land.

Balarabe urged to the intended pilgrims to pray for Kaduna State and the country as a whole during his final visit to them at the Mando Hajj Transit camp on Tuesday.

"I say Alhamdulillah for this opportunity that Allah has granted us to see the airlift of the first batch of Kaduna pilgrims departing for the holy land," she remarked.

I've come to say them farewell, and I pray that Allah, in His compassion, will securely transport them to Saudi Arabia, and that Allah, in His mercy, will safely return them when they've completed their hajj. Our message to them is that we want them to be good ambassadors for Nigeria as a whole, not just Kaduna State.

They should conduct themselves in a way that every pilgrim who visits the sacred area will admire. We also encourage them to set aside time to pray for the country, Kaduna State, and our leaders because it is a time for prayer and reflection."

Dr. Yusuf Yakub Arrigassiyyu, Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, praised the state government for taking steps to ensure a smooth operation.
