According to Shehu, a Pai community resident, the incident occurred around 11:12 p.m. on Sunday.
He claimed that robbers armed with sophisticated weaponry stormed into the Fulani hamlet as the residents were ready to leave for the day.
He claimed the deceased herder was shot in the chest while attempting to prevent his kinsman from being taken away.
"It was the occasional gunshots that drew the residents' attention until approximately 4 a.m. this morning, when it was revealed that robbers had slain one of the herders and taken away another," he claimed.
Maude Ado, the kidnapped herder, was identified.
Mohammed Usman, the Gwagwalada Area Council Branch Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), verified the murder and kidnapping of a herder in Pai.
Usman said the deceased had been buried after he was notified at 6:12 a.m. on Monday.
"However, while I talk to you, no contact has been established with the man's kidnappers," he stated.
DSP Adeh Josephine, the FCT police command's spokesperson, did not respond to a text message on the new kidnapping incidence.
