Only Peter Obi's Labour Party fraction is recognised – NLC.

On Thursday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) stated that it only recognises the Labour Party faction that produced Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, as its presidential candidate.

Jude Ezenwafor, a former chairman of the LP in Anambra State, was declared the victor of a presidential primary organised by a faction of the party on Wednesday, according to DAILY POST.

However, the NLC's National President, Ayuba Wabba, stated in a statement that the faction is not recognised.

"The leadership of the NLC and TUC recognise the leadership of the Labour Party led by Barr," the statement reads in part. The leadership includes Julius Abure, a former trade union leader, as well as workers. Only one presidential primary is known to the NLC and TUC, which was held in Asaba, Delta State on May 30, 2022, and produced HE Peter Obi as its presidential candidate and standard-bearer."
