It warned that the government's inactivity could lead to intractable ethno-religious unrest as a result of increased killings of northerners in the country's south-eastern region.
While denouncing the recent murder of Harira Jibril, a pregnant Muslim housewife, and her four children in Anambra by IPOB/ESN terrorists, it also denounced the indifference shown by some parts of the media and other non-Muslim players.
In a statement, the group claimed that their reaction was evidence of deep-seated Islamophobia.
"It is evident that their nefarious purpose is to incite retaliation against Nigerians of Igbo (or southern descent) living in the north, so plunging the country into another civil war." As a result, we applaud our northern countrymen for refusing to fall prey to the terrible bait."
The organisation voiced concern that IPOB/ESN terrorists had increased their homicidal exploits with greatest impunity in recent times, while calling with Muslims to be calm and avoid retaliation.
The coalition asked all well-intentioned individuals and organisations, regardless of religious or tribal affiliations, to unite and speak out against violence in order to prevent the country from devolving into chaos.
Muslim Rights Concern, Al-Usrah Incorporated, Port Harcourt Rivers State, Islamic Forum, Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness, Muslim Public Affairs Centre, and The Academy are among the organisations in the coalition.
