The suspected architect of the assassination of an Anambra lawmaker has been apprehended by the DSS.

The Department of State Service (DSS) in Anambra state has detained Chukwujekwu Onuorah, a 70-year-old man suspected of masterminding the kidnapping and beheading of Okechukwu Okoye, a member of the state's House of Assembly.

Onuorah is said to be one of the state's commanders of the terror gang known as the "Unknown gunmen." The suspect, who is reported to be a native doctor, was detained with three others in Unubi, in the Nnewi South local government area of Anambra State.

While Chukwujekwu has been transferred to Abuja for further questioning, the three other suspects are being grilled at the DSS's Anambra command.

Governor Charles Soludo has recently launched a N10 million reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of those guilty for Okoye's death.

Unknown people kidnapped the deceased senator and one other person in his Toyota Sienna automobile on May 15th. His head was discovered on Saturday, May 21, in Nnobi, Anambra State's Idemili South Local Government Area, where it was hanging, while his body was retained by his attackers.
