The trio, who police identified as part of a robbery syndicate, were apprehended in the Orita area of Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the State.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesman for the Ogun State police command, described the suspects as 27-year-old Ibiyemi Wasiri (a.k.a fellow), 20-year-old Alabi Ojugbele, and 18-year-old Obe Lekan.
Oyeyemi stated that they were apprehended during a joint regular patrol conducted by the Ilaro area command and the Ilaro divisional headquarters.
The suspects, who were spotted on a Bajaj motorcycle with a defaced number plate, were alleged to have leapt off the bike as soon as they saw the cops.
The cops pursued and arrested them as they bolted in different directions.
The suspects were found with one locally manufactured pistol, four live cartridges, and various illicit charms.
During interrogation, Ibiyemi Wasiri revealed to the police that he was an ex-convict with a pending case of unlawful possession of firearms in a magistrate court. Before they were apprehended by the cops, all of the suspects admitted to planning a heist.
"Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspects be immediately transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet inquiry."
