The police have slain two bandits terrorising residents and travellers in Kaduna State's Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area.

The two bandits were murdered by police operatives who foiled an abduction operation by a bunch of bandits at Kimdi village in Birnin Gwari LGA, according to Mohammed Jalige, spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command.

Several more bandits were wounded by bullets and the Operatives retrieved two AK47 rifles during the operation.

According to Jalige,

"In continuation of its relentless campaign against banditry in Kaduna, notably in the Birnin Gwari axis, the Command achieved another victory on May 31, 2022, when it neutralised two (2) bandits and seized two AK47 assault rifles, while numerous more were wounded by bullets."

"The action followed distress information received on the same date at about 1600 hours that some armed bandits in huge numbers had assaulted Kimdi village in Birnin Gwari LGA in their ignoble mission of kidnapping," said the statement.

The Command sent a nearby squad of crack Operatives to the scene to resist the invaders, and an exchange of fire ensued, with two of the bandits killed and two AK47 assault rifles recovered.

"The Command is aware of the security issues, particularly in the Birnin Gwari axis, and is working diligently with the State government and other security agencies to ensure that the sanctity of human life is adequately preserved at all times," says the statement.
