People say that police officers in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state of Kaduna killed two people they thought were terrorists near the village of Kimbi.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, who is in charge of public relations for the state police, said in a statement on Thursday that two AK-47 rifles were also taken from the thieves.

"As part of its ongoing fight against banditry in Kaduna, especially in the Birnin Gwari axis, the command had another success on May 31, 2022, when it killed two bandits and found two AK-47 assault rifles. Several other bandits were wounded by gunfire."

At about 4 p.m. on the same day, worried people told the government that a large group of armed bandits had attacked Kimdi village in Birnin Gwari LGA in order to kidnap people.

The command sent a nearby team of crack operatives to the area right away to stop the attackers. After an exchange of gunfire, two of the attackers were killed and two AK-47 assault rifles were found.

"The command is aware of the security problems, especially around Birnin Gwari axis," the statement said. "Along with the state government and other security agencies, the command is working hard to protect the sacredness of human life at all times."
