This was said in a statement released on Friday by the state police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
He claimed that the command was aware of the report of the unnamed woman who may have been devilishly exploited for financial ritual by a suspected internet fraudster known as Yahoo boy.
The young lady in issue was allegedly manipulated spiritually and demonically by a suspected yahoo guy, which caused her to begin barking like a dog, according to Oyeyemi.
The victim, who had been brought to the police station in soiled clothes, the PPRO continued, was "extremely difficult to handle because she was acting violently, therefore she was placed in the cell."
Oyeyemi claimed that police quickly contacted her parents to inform them that she had been transferred to a hospital with their assistance.
The case, which attracted a sizable audience to the station, was later moved to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department on the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, he added, adding that "the suspected Yahoo boy was immediately arrested for interrogation."
Oyeyemi, however, said that the command was shocked and ashamed to see the victim's video becoming viral on social media.
He stated, "The said video was taken while the victim, who was then nude and unrestrained, was in a police cell, which was the height of the embarrassment.
Due to this, Lanre Bankole, the commissioner of police, has mandated a thorough inquiry to determine where the video originated from and how it got to be discussed on social media.
Circulating such video footage on social media is barbarous, uncivilised, and vile because it will in large part belittle the victim's human dignity and could cause her more psychological suffering.
Therefore, the command has committed to deal with whoever is discovered to be the source of the video footage and those responsible for its distribution on social media in the most decisive way, regardless of the person's status.
