In Queens, New York, a woman was shot dead in broad sight, and authorities believe the man who had been staying at her apartment was responsible.

Around 9:20 a.m. on Monday, August 1, Tariak Stykes, 34, allegedly shot Sydney Lugo, 24, in the right arm while they were arguing near 109th Avenue and 120th Street in South Ozone Park.

She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where, according to police on Tuesday, August 2, she passed away from her wounds.

According to police, Lugo, who lived in a nearby apartment complex, had given Stykes permission to temporarily remain with her.

According to authorities, the two were bickering when Stykes reportedly started shooting, but it's unclear exactly what the nature of their argument was.

Shortly after the shooting, Styles was apprehended and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
