Adetoyese, 28, of Ilesa in Osun State's Ilesa West Local Government Area, was apprehended at Ogele, Eyenkorin in Kwara State's Asa Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the EFCC's Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwajuaren, the suspect's detention followed credible intelligence on the operations of Internet fraudsters in the Ilorin metropolis and its surrounds.
A Lexus automobile worth N4m, a laptop, an iPhone 11 Promax, and a Samsung S9 Plus were purportedly recovered from the suspect.
"During the course of the investigation, Adetoyese confessed that, among other things, he entered into Yahoo Yahoo in 2016 and had, among other things, built a house and funded himself in school using the proceeds of the criminal operations," the EFCC claimed.
The EFCC further stated that in a separate operation, men from the agency apprehended two other suspected fraudsters in various locations in Ilorin.
"The suspects are Muhammed Soliu and an aluminium fabricator named Olayiwola Saheed."
When questioned, Muhammed, 25, admitted to joining Yahoo-Yahoo in 2020 and specialising in dating/love scams. He claimed to have purchased a Toyota Camry worth N2.7m and built a residence with the proceeds of his unlawful operations. Similarly, Olayiwola, 30, who claimed to be a 'loader' in the Yahoo-Yahoo company, admitted to purchasing a Toyota Camry for over N2m with the proceeds of the alleged crime," the statement continued.
