After 30 days in jail, human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong was released from the Uyo Correctional Center.

The attorney was incarcerated by Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge Ekaette Obot for suspected contempt.

Friday morning, the attorney uploaded a video to his Facebook page with the statement, "History will vindicate the just."

Effiong stated, "I consider it an honour for me to be imprisoned for the truth."

Effiong claimed that Justice Obot gave the order to send him to prison in late July because he was protecting the truth.

Organizations and human rights groups had denounced Effiong's imprisonment.
