In Jigawa, police detain two alleged kidnappers and free the victim.
In conjunction with a vigilante group, Jigawa State Police Command agents detained two alleged kidnappers and freed a hostage.


The 30-year-old lady who was among the suspects was apprehended in the state's Ringim Local Government Area, according to the command's spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who made the announcement in a statement on Sunday, August 28.


According to the statement, "a joint team of operatives from Ringim Area Command and a neighbourhood vigilante group, led by Ringim Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Shehu Hamdullahi, raided a suspected kidnapper's hideout at Nisan Marke Herdsmen Settlement in Ringim LGA and apprehended two (2) suspected kidnappers."


According to information at our disposal, Muhammad Sama'ila'm', age 45, of Madari Village, Warawa LGA, Kano State, was observed with matchet cuts all over his body on August 24, 2022, at around 8:00 a.m.


After receiving the information, a team of police officers went to the crime scene and took the victim to the hospital.


"While on admission at the hospital, after regaining consciousness, the victim disclosed that he was abducted on Tuesday, August 22, 2022, at around 0130hrs from Madari Village in Warawa LGA of Kano State and taken to Nisan Marke Herdsmen. "When he attempted to escape from the abductors, he was attacked by one of the kidnappers and sustained injuries in his body.


The victim's phone, which was used for ransom negotiations, was found in the custody of one of the kidnappers, Abdurrazaq Musa'm', age 40, of Gurgunna village, Babura LGA, Jigawa State, who was also apprehended on the same date at around 0850 hours.


A 30 year old Nisan Marke villager named Hassana Jimau "f" was also detained at around 1230 hours.


Both suspects admitted under questioning that they had kidnapped the victim along with eight other gang members. The search for their collaborators is in high gear.


The suspects have been given over to the Kano State Police Command's anti-kidnapping division squad for a covert investigation in the meanwhile.


According to the PPRO, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida, the commissioner of the Jigawa State Police Command, praised the officers' efforts and asked the public to provide the police with accurate information whenever possible.
