Lagos police recover uniforms and detain a phoney soldier.
On Sunday, the Lagos State Police Command reported that after Andy Edwards pretended to be an army captain, detectives had arrested him for armed robbery.

According to reports, Edwards lured unsuspecting victims by disguising as a military commander before robbing them at gunpoint of their goods.

According to information obtained, the 39-year-old guy pretended to be a modelling agent to entice women to audition, following which they were robbed of their automobiles and other belongings.

From the suspect's home, items were found that included a Ford Edge SUV with the licence plate KRD 276 EG, a sewing machine, a POS machine with six SIM cards, two pairs of military camouflage uniforms, and one number plate with the number AFL469 GD.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Command's spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Sunday. He said the command took action after receiving a complaint from one of Edwards' victims, whose identity was kept secret.

Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have detained a fictitious Army Captain named Andy Edwards, 39, for armed robbery, according to Hundeyin.

The fake soldier, who pretended to be a modelling agent, would bring women for auditions before robbing them at gunpoint of their automobiles and possessions.

After a laborious investigation was conducted after one of his victims claimed that her Lexus RX330 SUV had been robbed, he was ultimately apprehended.

"While investigation is being completed, the owner of the Ford SUV is hereby encouraged to come forward and claim same," the statement reads. "Further investigation led to the recovery of one Ford Edge SUV with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine, one Point of Sale machine with six SIM cards, two pairs of military camouflage uniform, and one number plate - AFL 469 GD, in the suspect's house. At the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect would be arraigned.

"The good people of Lagos State are once again assured of the unflinching commitment of officers and men of the Command towards annihilation of crime and criminality in the state," said CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, the commissioner of police for Lagos State.
