Prince Ademola Adegoroye, the minister of state for transportation, has encouraged Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the minister of works and housing, to move quickly with the dualization of the Akure-Ado Ekiti Expressway project.

The Federal Government awarded Dantata and Sawoe the project to dualize the road in 2020, although development on the project has not started yet.

According to information obtained, the project's delay was caused by the lack of government funds for mobilisation.

Adegoroye brought up the road dualization project when he visited Fashola in his Abuja office, according to a statement released by Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, the transport minister's special assistant on media.

"The people of Ondo and Ekiti States had continued to face too much pain on the terrible road and hence need a respite," the transport minister reportedly said in the statement.

Adegoroye added that the federal government needed to take immediate action due to the bad condition of the road.

"The Akure-Ado road project would be the biggest gain of both Ondo and Ekiti States from the unprecedented 77 road projects undertaken upon and currently happening across the country," he said.

However, Adegoroye praised the works and housing minister for his diligent effort, forthrightness, and resolve in assuring the expansion of the nation's road infrastructure.

Fashola responded that the government had struggled to start the project due to a lack of funding, adding that the road was still in use.

The Works Minister praised Adegoroye for expressing sincere worry about the project and assured his colleague that he would do everything in his power to ensure that it got off the ground as soon as possible.
