A Magistrate Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, remanded a pastor by the name of Makanjuola Olabisi for allegedly having carnal knowledge of three biological sisters in the state capital.

According to a police investigation, sometime in 2018, the pastor violated the sisters after persuading them to join his church, Revolutionary Insight Church, which is located at Agba Dam in Ilorin.

According to reports, Olabisi called the oldest sister to join him for prayers after she turned down his proposal of marriage. She and her two siblings were allegedly all raped by him at various points.

When the complainants (victims) learned that the pastor had been abusing them sexually, they stopped going to church, and this led the pastor to threaten that bad things would happen to them.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Matthew Ologbonsaye, informed the court of a motion exparte attached to the charges, urging it to remand the pastor pending the outcome of the legal advice from the state director of public prosecution in the state ministry of justice. As a result, the court declined to accept the accused's plea.

As the court lacks authority to hear the pastor's plea, Magistrate Fatimah Salihu ruled that the pastor should be transported to the Federal Correctional Facility in Ilorin until she heard from the DPP.

The matter was continued for further court consideration until September 14, 2022.
