The dead was a private security guard, and it was discovered that the incident happened on Wednesday night on the grounds of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel in the neighbourhood.
INFOGONG learned that the victim's mangled corpse was found on the church grounds by the church's assistant pastor.
A local source claims that the deceased's head was removed from the body, but that the throat was still intact.
The victim's body was found at around 5.50am, according to a local who talked to Daily Trust under the condition of anonymity.
When anyone saw him, he had been beheaded, he claimed. He was without a throat. There was a rumour that it was a ritual killing.
The body had been recovered and lodged at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa for an autopsy, according to SP Asinim Butswat, a police spokesman in Bayelsa State who confirmed the incident.
He declared that an investigation to determine the incident's cause was ongoing.
