1,126,359 invalid registrants are removed by INEC in 2023.
Out of the 2,523,458 new registrants who signed up between June 28, 2021, and January 14, 2022, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced yesterday that 1,126,359 of them had been delisted.

Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and INEC's Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, made this statement on Monday night in Abuja.

He claims that after the suspension of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) on July 31, 2022, work has been ongoing to update the voter list utilising the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).

"Earlier, the commission told Nigerians that 1,126,359 records were discovered to be invalid and subsequently delisted out of the 2,523,458 new registrants that registered between June 28, 2021, and January 14, 2022," Okoye stated.

This indicates that just 1,397,099 of the new registrations are legitimate and will be included to the voter list, according to INFOGONG.
