After a domestic violence incident on Saturday night, September 10, 2022, in Lephalale's Marapong township, the suspect is accused of killing her partner.
The incident was confirmed by police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Ledwaba on Monday, September 12. She named the suspect as Emmy Serumula in the statement.
When the police arrived at the Marapong Health Care Center, they discovered a man lying dead with stab wounds. "A case of murder was then opened, and policing commenced with investigations," he said. "A man who had been brought to the centre after having been stabbed.
"Charles Kamogelo, 24, of Mafikeng, was identified as the victim; preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and his alleged girlfriend got into a fight at Marapong Extension 1, and during the argument, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp object. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.
"The woman, Emmy Serumula, was located and taken into custody. She was charged with murder when she appeared in Lephalale magistrate court today; the case was continued to September 19 so that a bail application could be made."
No one will be spared or given a pass when it comes to issues of gender-based violence, according to Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo.
