After a slow start to the season, Chelsea fired Tuchel.

After last night's 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Chelsea fired manager Thomas Tuchel.

After a slow start to the season at Stamford Bridge, the club's new owners decided to make a change at the top.

Tuchel, who is 49 years old, took over for Frank Lampard in January 2021. He led the Blues to victory in the Champions League later that year, and the team won the European Super Cup and Club World Cup the following year.

But his time in charge was cut short because the London team had a bad start to the season. After six Premier League games, they only had 10 points.

In an official statement, the club said, "On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, the club would like to thank Thomas and his staff for everything they did for the club during their time there."

"Thomas will have a place in Chelsea's history because he won the Champions League, the Super Cup, and the Club World Cup while he was here.

"It has been 100 days since the new owners took over the club, and they are still working hard to move the club forward. The new owners think this is the right time to make this change.

As the club moves quickly to hire a new head coach, Chelsea's coaching staff will be in charge of training and getting ready for upcoming games.

This summer, more than £200 million was spent on players like Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, and Wesley Fofana, who were brought in to help Tuchel.

But Chelsea's recent games didn't live up to expectations. They lost at Leeds and Southampton and barely beat Leicester with 10 men and West Ham at home.

Last night, after the loss in Croatia, it was clear that the German was under more and more pressure.

He said, "It's not good enough from us. We always hear the same story.

"We get off to a good start, but we don't take advantage of our half-chances, and we don't know when the game is over in the first 15 to 20 minutes.

"Then we gave up one easy counterattack, and things got hard from there."

When asked how many players were at their best, Tuchel said, "Not many right now."

"I have no idea where this act comes from. It's because they don't have enough hunger, intensity, or determination to win duels and do things at the highest level.

"You can't win games, not in the Premier League and not in the Champions League. We're not where we want to be."

The next game for Chelsea is at nearby Fulham on Saturday at lunchtime. The club has said that they won't say anything else until an appointment is made.
