In order to kick off the distribution of aid to victims, Emmanuel Shior, the executive secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), revealed this on Tuesday at a press conference in Makurdi.
He stated that the Guma Local Government Area had 14 fatalities, while Vandekiya LGA recorded 2, Katsina-Ala LGA recorded 4, and Agatu LGA recorded 3.
Shior also revealed that 4,411 homes have already been flooded, and 14, 040 hectares of crops have been lost to the water.
According to him, there were 116,084 displaced people, 12,856 homes, 11 local government units, 104 localities, and 14 injured people.
Additionally, he stated that the organization will move the refugees in Agatu who were blocking the highway to a designated camp where they would receive aid and security.
Guma, Vandekiya, Otukpo, Kastina-Ala, Makurdi, Apa, Agatu, Tarka, Gboko, Gwer West, and Logo were among the 11 impacted LGAs, and he emphasized that Makurdi and Agatu were the hardest affected by the water.
In addition, Digha John, a Principal Officer on Research and Rescue for NEMA, indicated that Borno, Benue, and Kogi were the worst-affected states out of all those in the country afflicted by the flooding this year.
John claimed that NEMA quickly dispatched its water purification truck to Benue State to treat contaminated water and distribute it to impacted villages.
