In Anambra, police apprehend car thief who fatally macheted driver.
On September 18, a guy named Akpa Lebechukwu from Enugu State was detained for murdering a commercial bus driver at Okija Junction in the Anambra State local government of Ihiala.

According to a statement made by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the state police command's spokesperson, the driver, who was leaving Lagos and travelling to Imo State, was attacked by the criminal when he parked to pick up a passenger. He claimed that after the driver had dropped off a passenger, the suspect hopped into the car and attacked the man with a machete.

Police detained Akpa Lebechukwu 'M,' a 25-year-old from Enugu State, on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at around 12:05 PM. They also found one machete on him.

At the intersection of Okija and the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway, the suspect attacked the driver of a commercial vehicle that was travelling from Lagos to Imo state.

Before Lebechukwu hopped into the car and attacked the driver with a machete, the victim had pulled over to drop off a passenger. Before a working doctor pronounced the motorist dead, he was taken to the hospital.

However, it was unclear what the attacker's motives or frame of mind were.

The immediate transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department was ordered, according to Ikenga's comment from the Anambra State Police Commissioner.
