In Kogi, gunmen kill one and injure two.

As hoodlums attacked vendors at Ofeapo along the Idrisu-Bagana Road in Kogi State's Omala Local Government Area, one person is presumed dead and two others injured.


At around 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, an eyewitness claimed that the traders were ambushed as they were leaving Bagana Market for home.


The attackers reportedly opened fire on the traders from close range as they rode in a tricycle known as a "Keke NAPEP," killing one of them instantly and wounded another.


SP., a spokesman for police command The injured traders were transferred to a medical facility in Abejukolo, the Omala LGC headquarters, according to William Aya, who confirmed the occurrence.


He added that CP Edward Egbuka, the police commissioner, had dispatched a tactical unit and officers from the Division to the scene of the event in order to apprehend the offenders.


In the meantime, HRH Boniface Musa, Ojogba of Ife, the supreme monarch of the Omala Local Government Area Traditional Council, has denounced the heinous deed.


He bemoaned the ongoing attacks by unidentified gunmen on the Bagana people and expressed regret that the killings had derailed the peace process being led by Atta Igala, HRM Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Akpa, and other stakeholders.
