Police discover a cannabis garden in Abuja and arrest a suspect
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command discovered a Cannabis farm and arrested Thaddeus Joseph, the accused owner.


DSP Josephine Adeh, the command's spokesperson, said in a statement released on September 16, 2022, that a 32-year-old resident of the Kado Estate Area of the FCT was detained for possessing a commercial quantity of leaves presumed to be Cannabis sativa.


The suspect was apprehended by a team of the Command's Anti-Drugs Section on September 7, 2022.


According to the PPRO, the suspect's detention was based on credible evidence that he cultivates a vast farm of the illegal plant in Godab Estate in the Life Camp District of the FCT.


The suspect admitted in a voluntary statement that he had participated in the activity for approximately two years, according to the spokeswoman.

The suspect's name has been forwarded to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action, according to Adeh.

"Upon arrest, the suspect admitted in a voluntary statement that he had engaged in the activity for almost two years.
