R. Kelly has been convicted on six charges of child pornography.
R. Kelly has been found guilty of committing sex offences, including as creating images depicting child sexual abuse and pressuring juveniles into sex acts.

The 12-member jury found Mr. Kelly guilty on six of the 13 charges against him on Wednesday, September 14.

He was found guilty of manufacturing three child sex abuse recordings and pressuring three children into illegal sexual behaviour, all of which, according to the prosecution, involved the same 14-year-old girl.

R. Kelly was exonerated of trying to thwart an earlier inquiry into his abuse. Additionally, the jury found him not guilty of obtaining and conspiring to receive images of child sexual assault as part of a purported conspiracy to locate lost videotapes.

Derrel McDavid and Milton Brown, his two co-defendants, were acquitted of all charges. Longtime Kelly business manager McDavid was found not guilty by the jury after being charged with working with Kelly to fix the 2008 trial. Brown, a longtime Kelly associate, was found not guilty of obtaining child porn.

R. Kelly, 55, was already serving a 30-year prison term in June 2022 after a Brooklyn jury found him guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.

That means he won't be eligible for release until he is almost 80 years old.

Despite allegations of sexual abuse dating back more than three decades, R. Kelly's conviction in June marked the first time he had been charged with a crime in connection with those allegations.

The conviction in Chicago today might lengthen that prison term by further years.
