Suspects confess to killing the manager of a gas station and reveal the motive
Five suspects have been detained by the Osun State Police Command in connection with the death of a gas station manager.


The suspects said that they had been paid N500,000 to kill the manager of a Mobil gas station in Osun State.


They are currently being held on suspicion of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, and affiliation with an illegal organisation.


The five suspects that were detained are Adamo Aliyu, 24, Damilola Kayode, 22, Yusuf Idris, 22, Odewumi Sodiq, 26, and Adeshina Ayomide, 38.


The gang members were apprehended after police officers from Ikire Area Command received a distress call on Saturday, September 3, 2022, according to Yemisi Opalola, the Command spokesperson, who briefed journalists on behalf of Olawale Olokode, the Osun Police Commissioner, on September 14 at the Command headquarters in Osogbo.


According to Opalola, "Upon a distress call/intelligence on March 9, 2022, that there had been a robbery attack/operation at Koteyemu/Aku area of Ikire, the Police from Ikire Area Command in joint operation with the Civilian Joint Task force (Hunters and Forest Security Service, Osun State) swiftly moved to the area and arrested a suspected notorious armed robber named ADAMO ALIYU after robbing his


"The Police not resting on their oars continued their investigation to several locations of Ikire where three cohorts of the prime suspect above (2-4) were picked-up/arrested from their various hideouts within the town," the police statement reads.


The police spokesperson also said that the Anti-Cultism Unit sprang into action right away and detained the fifth suspect after receiving the file for a covert investigation.


In the course of further investigation, the first suspect, Adamo Aliyu, made a confessional statement, according to which he, Damilola Kayode, Yusuf Idiris, and Odewumi Sodiq (the first to fourth suspects), all conspired to kill the Mobil filling station manager, one Fatai Atanda Adigun "M," 55 years old, along the Ikire express road in the Irewole Local Government Area of (One Hundred Thousand Naira).


"On 2/09/2022, the same criminals who were previously suspected of belonging to an illegal society once more planned a plot and robbed one Barr. Oyeyinka Musafau "M" of Oke-Olufi Area, Ikire, Osun State, stole his one Infinix phone worth N110,000 (One Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira), as well as several expensive items whose values are yet unknown.


Also in August 2022, a cyclist was robbed and slain in front of the Irewole Local Government building on the Ife/Ibadan Road, Ikire, by the first through fourth suspects and other fugitives.


"They also robbed other merchants near the university, on the Ikire/Iwo Road, in Ikire, and made off with N600,000 in cash" (Six Hundred Thousand Naira). Along with robbing him, they killed another cyclist before taking his motorcycle.


The 1st through 4th suspects claimed that the 5th suspect, Adeshina Ayomide, a member of the Mobil Filling Station staff, was the one who paid them N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) to kill the Mobil Filling Station manager in Ikire, Osun State, in order to hide the N2, 170,000 (Two Million, One Hundred and Seven Thousand Naira) worth of fraud or misappropriation in which he was somehow


Axes, saw blades, spanners, and other manufactured weapons are among the exhibits they are holding.
