The star of Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe, has offered his opinion on why people are so preoccupied with the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The France international acknowledged that a generation of football fans, including himself, have been obsessed by the more than ten-year rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo.

According to PSGtalk, the French striker addressed the rivalry between the two superstars in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Messi and Ronaldo, according to Mbappé, "transformed the way people approach the game."

"I believe that's why so many people were enthralled with their rivalry. They have different perspectives on soccer. They have different perspectives on life.

For me, that was my entire childhood as they fought it out for more than ten years.

A record 12 Ballons d'Or have been won by Messi and Ronaldo combined, and 23-year-old Mbappe has been predicted to be one of the pair's successors.
