A boating tragedy in Sokoto claimed the lives of 15 people.

According to reports, 15 individuals drowned in a boating disaster in Sokoto State's Shagari Local Government Area.

Chairman of Shagari Local Government Aliyu Dantanin Shagari confirmed the deaths of 15 individuals and said that the tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening.

Prior to the disaster, there were twenty-five persons on board the boat headed for Mauludi.

In the Shagari area, numerous people have lost their lives due to boating accidents.

You may remember that during a condolence visit following another boating disaster in the local government, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal pledged to give life jackets to assist avoid drowning.
