Calabar policeman shot and killed by unknown assailants

A cop in Calabar, the state capital of Cross River State, was shot and killed by unknown assailants.

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at around 6:00 p.m., Sergeant Peter Ikwen was fatally shot on Edgerton Street in Calabar.

SP Irene Ugbo, the State Police Command's official spokesperson, confirmed the attack and stated that the perpetrators made off with the officer's rifle.

"I have just received that a police sergeant was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Saturday, and his rifle was taken away by the perpetrators," she stated.

The PPRO, who strongly denounced the officer's murder, said that an inquiry had commenced with the goal of identifying those responsible.
