PHOTOS - Yahaya Bello paddles a canoe to communities in flood-stricken Kogi

On Thursday, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello made a rare canoe trip to some of the towns in the state that had been devastated by flooding.

Highways from or via Lokoja to Abuja are now impassable due to the water, causing traffic jams and severe hardship for Nigerians.

The governor spoke with several people from the impacted areas.
