An indigenous of the hamlet, who gave his name as Musa Sani, told The PUNCH that the event occurred when the village's residents were attempting to escape in a boat after being attacked by terrorists late Wednesday night.
He insisted that the terrorists arrived on the scene while they were already in the river and started shooting, which caused the boat to capsize and murder 26 people.
The majority of the victims, who were women and children, were in a boat trying to flee the bandits' attack when it capsized, killing 21 children and five women.
We have found their lifeless bodies and are preparing to bury them as I speak to you.
Sani went on to say that 27 individuals had also been abducted by the bandits from the nearby villages of Rugaje, Danzamau, and Maikulki.
Twelve people were taken hostage in Rugaje, nine in Danzamau, and six in Maikulki.
Musa pleaded with the security personnel to save them, saying that "there are no security personnel in the entire neighborhood."
After numerous tries, SP Mohammed Shehu of the state police command did not answer the phone when our reporter called.
