In Kwara, illegal mining results in the arrest of eight people and the seizure of three trucks with marble.
The police in Kwara State, Nigeria, have seized three trucks full of marble from eight suspects operating in the Share, Tsaragi, and Patigi towns.

Suspects include Alhassan Rabiu, Ibrahim Sule Balarabe, Mohammed Dalhatu Idris, Abubakar Tasiu, and Mohammed Abdulbaqi Sadiq.

SGM 222 ZR, GBE 347ZE, and BWR 151 YL were the vehicle identification numbers listed.


Ajayi Okasanmi, a spokesman for the police department, said that the suspects were apprehended after residents and legal miners filed a complaint about the damage they were doing to the environment and the state and national economies.

He stated that evidence had been retrieved, and that suspects would be charged in court following interrogation.
