Niger police apprehend 13 alleged Boko Haram members as they attempted to attack a military base.
Thirteen people have been arrested on suspicion of being Boko Haram fighters who planned to attack the military cantonment in Wawa, located in the Borgu local government region of Niger State.

On the evening of October 29, 2022, the military barracks were attacked.

Six of the suspects were apprehended at a farmland in Wawa, two in Wawa town, and five more at Gada Oli on the outskirts of Wawa town trying to escape to the border of Nigeria and Benin Republic after the Nigeria Air Force and the Army joined forces to repel the terrorists from gaining access to the military barracks.

Some of the attackers reportedly escaped through the Mokwa and New Bussa area after Saturday's attack on the Wawa military cantonment. The security forces were reportedly hot on their trail.

After intense military action by the army and the airforce from Air Force Base New Bussa on Saturday, when the group attempted to attack the cantonment, the military engaged them, killing eight and arresting three of the commanders. However, some of the members fled through different directions.
