Okotie explains why candidates' campaign promises will fall short of their goals if they are elected president.
Chris Okotie, a former presidential candidate and the senior pastor of the Household of God Church, has provided an explanation for the failure of the pledges made by candidates for president in the upcoming 2023 election.

On Monday, Okotie released a statement to The INGOGONG in which he criticized all of the presidential candidates for focusing their campaigns on procedural matters rather than the root of the problem: the Nigerian constitution.

None of the candidates, he said, were talking about conditionalities, and he made it clear that modalities were not the answer to the country's problems.

He wrote, "All the major presidential flagbearers are talking about modality — how they would do what — none is addressing conditionality, that is, the constitution, true federalism, and resource control as the primary solution to the Nigerian quandary."

"Nigeria's governmental incapacity is not modalities" (relating to the necessary knowledge and procedure), but rather "conditionalities" (relating to inherent conditional obstructions).

In addition, "To attempt to base any actualisation of political promises on the present dysfunctional constitution is a journey in futility," it read.

The Reverend continued, saying that the only solution was to implement his version of constitutional reform based on Aboriginal Democracy, which would result in a workable document that would satisfy the people's hopes and dreams.
